The Buffalo Wings were squishy.

The Buffalo Wings were squishy. That is not how Mama’s Wings were supposed to be. Mama’s Cafe made hot crispy wings that folks drove across country to consume in large quantities. Darren, wondered what had changed.

He had heard the place was in danger of closing and the drop in quality was a likely reason. The kitchen was noisy as it always was, but with shouting and more banging than normal. Someone was fighting with someone on the phone. He didn’t recognize the voice and he had no idea what they were saying since the unknown voice was speaking Spanish.

“Had Mama’s been purchased by a new owner?” Darren wondered.

Then he wondered if the menu would change too. He had become fat off of the hometown cooking he was used to. He wasn’t sure if he would like having his favorite spot, which was another home, change. HE didn’t think he would be as excited for Huevos Rancheros and he would for the two huge Biscuits covered with gravel that he was used to.

Then he thought, maybe thinking of himself is not the best thing here. What had happened to Mama.
